The Role

We are looking for a Field Bioinformatics Scientist to help our customers in their computational and data analysis needs. You will be focused on maintaining Pixelgen Technologies customer-centered experience with your can-do attitude and willingness to help others in their success. You must show your passion to help scientists obtain the most out of their data. Special attention to detail and customer oriented personality is sought for. In addition, a technical profile who learns quickly the ins and outs of our technology and computational infrastructure is required. 

In this role, meaning you will get a steep learning progression in your career. You will be mentored by the CTO and senior colleagues but also working hand in hand with the commercial organization.

This position requires approx. 60% work presence in Pixelgen’s Stockholm office and occasional traveling required.  

Responsibilities

• Be the expert on Pixelgen’s software and data analysis in front of customers.

• Provide timely advice and solutions to issues and requests from customers. Communication might be by email, chat, video or online conference calls.

• Keep track of issue resolution status in software and data analysis for Pixelgen.

• Manage triage of issues and escalation. In partnership with R&D and Engineering, find solutions to those harder problems of customers and keep track of them so they are solved on time.

• Lead consultations with scientists and bioinformatics at top academic, research and biotech sites.

• Represent the “Customer Opinion” in front of management. You will distill, quantify and present customer feedback to different stakeholders.

• Advocate for the User Experience and Customer Centeredness across Pixelgen.

• Own the continuous improvement of customer facing software and analysis documentation.

• Develop and maintain software and customer facing analysis training materials.

• Help testing software for customers.

• Keep updated of new tools, trends and software methods for analysis of single-cell data and engage with the community of users on behalf of Pixelgen Technologies.

• Occasional traveling with the Commercial and Engineering team to meet with customers at trade shows, scientific meetings and technical symposia. 

• Give presentations face-to-face to customers and in front of audiences both online and at meetings.

Requirements 

• Similar industrial experience and/or a PhD focused on bioinformatic analysis or data science.

• Expertise in python/R for data analysis.

• Proven experience of installing, troubleshooting and supporting bioinformatics software and analysis pipelines.

• Fluency working in command-line-interface in Unix flavors.

• Experience with software deployment in the cloud.

• Experience troubleshooting issues in HPC environments with schedulers (e.g. SGE, LFS, Slurm, etc.).

• Working with notebooks (e.g. Jupyter) and reporting tools.

• Experience with creation of dashboards for data analysis.

• Experience working with NGS data.

• Familiarity with git repositories and good practices in developing code in teams.

• Collaborative spirit with excellent communication skills.

• High self-motivation: take initiatives, have the ability to run multiple parallel activities and at the same time have the ability to keep focus to reach project goals according to set timelines.

Preferred Requirements

• Postdoctoral or industry experience analyzing single-cell data.

• Past experience with bioinformatic consultations. Helped scientists analyze their data.

• Led Bioinformatics teaching/training.

• Image analysis expertise.

• Industrial experience on testing software products.
