The role
We are looking for a Computational Biologist to be our computational trailblazer. You should be a person whose passion is to implement computational data pipelines that work in a high performance manner and you should have created novel target metrics to develop a product.
Your proven experience designing novel data structures and algorithms in the past will help Pixelgen at this stage. You have fluency in modeling and simulating data and show a flair for visualization and representing the beauty of your datasets.
Pixelgen Technologies has been selected as a performer in the prestigious delta tissue (ΔTissue) project and this position is part of the R&D team involved in this project. ΔTissue is awarded and funded by the Wellcome Leap initiative: https://wellcomeleap.org/delta-tissue/
In this role, you will be mentored by the CTO and senior colleagues meaning you will get a steep learning progression in your career.
This position requires approx. 40% work presence in Pixelgen’s Stockholm office.
Responsibilities
Develop our data processing pipeline and the infrastructure surrounding it
Lead the productification of our data processing pipeline
Develop metrics and summary statistics for product development and optimization
Summarize and track metrics between experimental datasets over time to identify patterns
Use statistics or machine learning (ML) techniques to draw conclusions from your data
Champion novel algorithms to empower the technology that serves our customers
Visualize and summarize results using relevant plots/tables
Document, communicate and summarize results regularly to advance our product development efforts
Requirements
Industrial experience and/or a PhD focused on on computational biology or bioinformatics
Past experience in product development
Expertise in python for data analysis
Expertise with NGS data
Familiarity working in command-line-interface in Unix flavors
Broad statistical and ML knowledge (e.g. distributions, hypothesis testing, dimensionality reduction, neural networks, etc.) applied to NGS, single-cell and spatial data analysis
Expertise analyzing different datasets of spatial transcriptomics technologies
Working with notebooks (e.g. Jupyter) and reporting tools
Experience with creation of dashboards for data analysis
Expertise in developing analysis pipelines with DSL environments
Experience with cloud environments
Familiarity with git repositories and good practices in developing code in teams
Committed code to several open source projects
Analytical mindset with quantitative thinking in abstract problems
Collaborative spirit with excellent communication skills
High self-motivation: take initiatives, have the ability to run multiple parallel activities and at the same time have the ability to keep focus to reach project goals according to set timelines
Preferred requirements
Experience in image processing analysis
Experience with graph and network analysis
